Lapeer Township Planning Commission: The planning commission meets on the third Monday of every month except December at 7:00 p.m.
The Lapeer Township Planning Commission consists of seven members that serve staggered three year terms and are appointed by the Supervisor. They are residents of our Township. The general purpose of the Planning Commission shall be to guide and promote the efficient, coordinated development of the Township in a manner which will best promote the health, safety and general welfare of its people. They are to consider all matters referred to it by the Township Board and / or under State Statute or Township Ordinance.
Lapeer Township Zoning Board of Appeals: The Lapeer Township Zoning Board of Appeals meets on an as needed basis on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
The Lapeer Township Zoning Board of Appeals may be requested by either the Township board or the Township Planning Commission to interpret provisions of the zoning ordinance. They also have the power to vary or modify any Ordinance provision whenever there are practical difficulties imposed on a property owner if the strict letter of the Ordinance is carried out. The Zoning Board of Appeals shall decide appeals in such a manner that the spirit of the Ordinance is observed, public safety secured and substantial justice done.
